WEALDSTONE manager Stuart Maynard was 'delighted to get the win' against a very capable York City side on Saturday.

Maynard oversaw a 3-1 victory, after goals from Corie Andrews, Tarrelle Whittaker and Tarryn Allarakhia cancelled out a late consolation strike from Adam Crookes.

The Stones manager was also pleased with the progress his squad had made, in completing the double over a former Football League side like York.

"Delighted to get the win." Enthused Maynard.

"York are a very good team, and we were worried about them.

"They've got lots of athleticism, they're good on the frontline but the lads today were outstanding.

"We controlled the game in the first half and when you look back on it I think we had 70 per cent possession which is huge.

"We got in really good areas but struggled a little bit with end product in the first stages of the game and we tried to force it a few times.

"In the end it is some win for us, as a football club to get the double over York and get the six points from York.

"I'm delighted for Corie [Andrews] to get his goal because it was some finish.

"It was a great cross from Brooklyn [Ilunga] and to volley it whilst jumping in the air is brilliant.

"It was the same for [Tarrelle] Whittaker in the second half, it was some finish to reverse it through the guys legs. I'm delighted for the lads.

"The lads gave absolutely everything and that's all we can ask from the group.

"We've played York today and there was an expectation before the game that we should beat York and that's how far we have come as a football club."
