YORK City interim assistant manager Scott Barrow was left feeling delighted at their cup victory, claiming it was 'the York City I know.'.

It comes after an excellent performance saw City advance to the quarter-finals of the Isuzu FA Trophy, thanks to goals from Fraser Kerr and Lenell John-Lewis.

Barrow was left delighted, with a winning start to a new look interim lineup on the sidelines of Michael Morton, Paddy McLaughlin, Jon Stead and Barrow.

“I’m not going to lie, I was really nervous!” Laughed Barrow.

“As a player it is nerve-wrecking, especially on the sidelines it is a lot worse.

“The emotions and kicking every ball, but today I thought it was the York City I know.

“The energy, the passion, the togetherness. I thought they were superb, especially for the first 45 minutes. For the first time in a long time we were solid and super for the whole 90 minutes.

“I think today was a thoroughly deserved three points and hopefully the lads can now kick on a bit more.

“We did create a lot of chances in that first half.

“That’s something that we addressed and that we’ve been working on.

“We should have been two or three up at half-time but I think the pleasing this is that our heads didn’t drop and we knew that we should have gone in front.

“All we wanted was another performance like that in the second half, we got the goal, we’ve been working on a few corners and because they had a man in the middle we wanted to try and take him out of the way.

"It was a great ball by Dan [Pybus] to the front post and a great header by Fraser [Kerr].

After that then it was backs against the wall, but it showed the togetherness and the organisation.”
