YORK City manager David Webb has described tonight’s defeat to Solihull Moors as ‘demoralising’, as the Minstermen slumped to 18th in the Vanarama National League table.

Webb’s side are just four points clear of the relegation zone and have suffered four consecutive defeats.

But after Shaq Forde originally gave York the lead in the first half, there was a glimmer of hope that City’s losing run could be coming to a close.

Goals from Joe Sbarra, Andrew Dallas and ex-York striker Mark Beck quickly signalled that this was not the case, despite Olly Dyson netting a consolation.

“It is very demoralising.” Admitted Webb.

“We have to go again and there is no other hiding place for it, we’ve got a game on Saturday which  is an FA Trophy game and next week at Wealdstone, so we’ve got to try and pick up points.

“It’s a tough one that. We’ve come in 1-0 and probably in full control of the game, and then we give away three soft goals in the second half.

“It’s just deflating.

“The first half we came off in control and it looked like we could go and score two to kill the game off but it just wasn’t to be. It was a difficult one.

“We just got beat. It was quick break, we don’t win first or second contacts and they go through and score. The last goal is from a corner, a set piece. It’s just horrible to take.

“Again the work ethic was there. They worked really hard, we created a couple of chances but again it is both boxes. We score two and concede three and at the end of the day we lose the game. It’s just very disappointing.

“After the first half when we were coming out we were talking in the changing rooms and thought we could go out and get a second goal.

“They looked a little bit shaky, especially when we were putting the balls down the sides on them aswell.

“They looked like they didn’t like to have physical contact so if we could just stick to the game plan and do what we’re doing then hopefully we could get a second goal.

“It went 1-1 and we felt okay, like we were still in the game, and got caught quick on the second one for 2-1.

“We came back into it and battled hard.

“I thought we were in the ascendancy, we went for it and brought Manny [Duku] on just to try and drop Shaq in behind them as well to try and attack to win the game. We were positive with it, but it just wasn’t to be.

“As any football team if you don’t win first or second contact and the other team is more alert to the ball then you are going to get punished.”
