A SOLIHULL Moors victory tonight against York City would be ‘huge’, according to VAVEL.com journalist Callum Moseley.

Solihull Moors have just two wins in their last 13 matches and find themselves in a disappointing 13th position, despite regularly contending for the Vanarama National League play-offs in recent years.

After some strong recruitment in the Summer and injuries hampering their chances of promotion from England’s fifth tier, it’s been a forgetful campaign for the Moors.

York find themselves in a similar position, after a strong start to the season just two league victories since early October has seen City slump to 17th in the National League table, and just four points adrift of the relegation zone.

The Press spoke to young journalist Callum on what the Minstermen can expect tonight (7.45pm).

How has Solihull Moors’ season gone so far?

“Honestly, the phrase I would use is utterly frustrating.

“In the summer we made our squad considerably stronger, adding a lot of EFL experience in, with the likes of Ben Coker, Joey Jones and Callum Whelan. But we’ve been dealt an awful run with injuries to key players.

“In Recent months we’ve lost Dallas, Maycock, Howe, Gudger and Sbarra with injuries and we’ve been left to field youth on the bench.

“Add to this, the departure of three of our loanees, making our squad depth the worst it’s been for a while.

“The side is better overall but we’ve simply had no luck at all but that’s football and sometimes you need to create your own luck.”

What can York expect from Solihull tonight?

“I am hopeful that we will respond to the defeat at the weekend because that performance simply wasn’t good enough.

“We need to come out firing and Neal Ardley will know that. I’m expecting a side set up to attack from the off, so if I was a York supporter, I’d be expecting a very attacking team from Solihull that are also set up to pack out the midfield when off the ball.”

Who is Solihull Moors’ danger man?

“Eyes will be on the main trio of course being Ryan Barnett, Joe Sbarra and Andrew Dallas.

“They each have the ability to unlock any defence at this level.

“But, the player I’m most interested in on the night would be Mark Beck. Yet to score since his move from Darlington and against his former side, should definitely make him a danger man for sure on the night.”

How important are three points to Solihull Moors tonight?

“A win for Solihull tonight would be huge.

“We won our last league game away in a big win against Dorking, but our last away win before that was back at the end of October against Maidenhead.

“We also need a win to reinstall belief back into the camp that we can get our season back on track and get the play-off push back on track too.

“York will equally bring their A-Game, so we have to be on top form. The win could be a huge turning point in our battle to get confidence, morale and belief back into the squad and club as a whole.”
