YORK City manager David Webb has confirmed that the club are interested in signing Boreham Wood striker Danny Elliott.

Elliott, who has proven prolific so far this season, spent the first half of the campaign on loan at fellow Vanarama National League side Gateshead.

The 27-year-old netted five goals in seven appearances for the Heed, before being recalled by Boreham Wood two days ago.

However his availabilty remains unknown, after starting for Boreham Wood in their 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town on Tuesday night.

A player who has scored three times against York so far this season in the festive fixtures between Gateshead and City, Webb has confirmed he would be interested in bringing Elliott to the club if he is available for transfer.

“When there are goal scorers of that calibre that become available, and I’m not sure what the situation is at the minute, it picks our interest because obviously he scores goals.” Admitted Webb.

“That’s as far as it is at the minute, yes he’s interesting for us but we’re nowhere near completing anything or doing anything at the moment.

“I don’t think there’s anybody in or out this weekend.

“Next week we might look at and assess the squad, where we are with injuries and stuff.

“We’re just going to wait and see where we are over the weekend because we’ve got a big squad as it is so we don’t need to bring in players without the quality.

“Obviously if we have injuries in key positions in the long-term then we will definitely look at how we can strengthen in those areas.”

Webb has so far brought in two new additions to the York ranks, with Shaq Forde joining from Watford and Ollie Tanner joining from Cardiff City on loan deals until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Tanner was granted his first start for the Minstermen in last weekend’s underwhelming 2-1 defeat to Maidenhead United.

Whilst the winger admittedly didn’t set the world alight, Webb remains excited to see what Tanner is capable of.

“That’s why we brought him in on loan from Cardiff, he’s got talent, he’s got potential.” Enthused Webb.

“It was his first start and we’ve got a lot of games coming up so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do in the upcoming games.”
