YORK CITY will host a struggling Maidenhead United side on 28 August, Saturday at 3pm.

The LNER Community Stadium will welcome the away side from Berkshire with York looking to grasp a much-needed three points after a dismal result on the road in midweek, after David Webb’s side were defeated 2-0 by Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night.

Webb has reassured that he is eager to set the record straight, as the Minstermen look to complete the double over Maidenhead, who currently sit in 18th place in the Vanarama National League table.

It has been a struggle recently for the travelling Magpies, who are winless in their last seven league matches and haven’t won in the National League since mid-November, despite Isuzu FA Trophy success.

York on the other hand are difficult to predict, with Webb enjoying a mixed start to his tenure in charge. A massively underwhelming defeat to Oldham was a sucker-punch to City, but recent FA Trophy success over Blyth Spartans and Chelmsford City and a thumping 4-1 victory over Maidstone United means York fans are rarely convinced by their team.

To make matters difficult for City, their injury list continues to be a relatively heavy one. Gus Mafuta (calf), Ethan Ross (head) and Maziar Kouhyar (abductor) will all be absent from action, whilst Luke James (calf) could be in line to make his return to the squad after resuming to light training last week.

Maidenhead are much more fortunate in terms of team news, with defender Will De Havilland back available for selection after recovering from an ankle knock in the Magpies previous 3-2 defeat to Altrincham, whilst Idris Odutayo will likely start after having his loan spell from Fulham extended.

York will also be eager to replicate their early season fortunates against Maidenhead, after an arrowed header from Maxim Kouogun awarded the Minstermen three points in a 1-0 heated clash back in August 2022.
