YORK CITY manager David Webb has provided an update on the injury situation at the club.

It was already known before Saturday’s 1-1 draw (5-4 on penalties) against Chelmsford City in the Isuzu FA Trophy that Lenell John-Lewis (groin), Maziar Kouhyar (abductor), Luke James (calf) and Gus Mafuta (calf) would all be absent with injuries.

But with the half-time substitutions of both Alex Whittle and Sam Sanders, manager Webb has explained the decisions; and fears the worst.

“They were both forced.” Webb confirmed.

“I think Alex had a knock on his ankle so he couldn’t come back out, and Sam was a shoulder injury.

“So we’ll monitor them throughout the week and see how they get on.

Webb reassured supporters that there would be nothing to worry about, his side advanced to the last 16 of the FA Trophy.

“What we have got is depth. We’ve got players doubling up on every position, so it’s given us a chance to play some players who haven’t had minutes like Alex (Whittle) or Fraser (Kerr) who are just coming back from knocks and illnesses if you want to look at those. Olly (Dyson) has just come back from an illness too.”
