YORK CITY manager David Webb has expressed his desires of reaching Wembley Stadium, and progressing in the Isuzu FA Trophy this weekend.

City face a confident-looking Chelmsford City side on Saturday (3pm) in the FA Trophy fourth round, but Webb isn’t looking to let any complacency creep into his side due to the difference in divisions between the two outfits.

Chelmsford currently ply their trade in the Vanarama National League South, but have so far defeated both Vanarama National League sides Aldershot Town and Wealdstone in cup competitions, and even forced Barnet into a replay.

“Positive. We’ve had another good training week, we’ve got a difficult game coming up on the weekend,” Webb said on preparation for the fixture.

“I think Chelmsford can’t be underestimated given where they are in the league below as well, so we have to stay focused and take that last couple of results into this weekend.

“We’ve prepared for Chelmsford like we’d prepare for any other team in the National League. We’re taking them seriously and it’s a competition we want to go far in, so we’ve prepared just the same as we would for everyone else.

“We can still build the momentum by winning games [In the cup rather than the league], winning games breeds habits and that’s what we want to try and get into.

“I’d say they’re pretty similar to Maidstone in a way, they are pretty direct and they’ve got a few tricky players. Their left-back has got some good deliveries, they play with three up front and are quite narrow and they look to threaten in behind with some of their wide players as well. But they’re going to be a difficult team.”

Webb is also keen to replicate City’s 2017 FA Trophy lift, as the Minstermen defeated Macclesfield Town 3-2.

“We want to attack it, I think it’s a chance for silverware. It’s a chance to get to Wembley, and once again it’s a chance to breed good habits.

“I’ve only been there as a fan. When I was at Tottenham [Hotspur] we used it as our home ground for a little while, so I’ve got to see around it. But in terms of coaching or playing there, it’ll be my first time.”
