JOHN ASKEY hopes that Scott Burgess can receive some much-needed game time during his loan spell at Kidderminster Harriers.

Summer signing Burgess joined Vanarama National League North side Kidderminster until January on Friday, having played just five times for York this season, all as a substitute.

Last season, the midfielder made only 14 appearances for Grimsby Town, whom he departed from to return to York in June, and Askey insisted that a lack of first-team minutes was behind his move to Kiddy.

“I think that Scott is a good player but he needs to go out and play games,” the manager explained. “He’s not played enough games in the last year or so.

“Hopefully by him going out to a decent team, he’ll get playing and get his confidence and match fitness back.

“Hopefully when he’s back with us, he’ll be ready to go. I thought we were in a position where we could afford to do that, with the players that we’ve got back fit.”
