YORK City are facing a wait on the fitness of Olly Dyson ahead of Saturday's trip to Yeovil Town (3pm).

Dyson suffered a knock to his kidneys in Monday's 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic, in which he scored York's equaliser.

The midfielder has appeared in all of City's first six Vanarama National League matches this season but could miss the visit to Yeovil.

“Everybody has come through the game on Monday unscathed apart from Olly Dyson," reported manager John Askey.

“Olly had to go to hospital but we’re hoping that he’s going to be ok.

“He had a bang on his kidneys. We weren’t sure what it was.

"He went to hospital and, as we all know, the hospital was full and he struggled to get seen. Luckily, he got seen to late last night (Wednesday).”

Askey was without full-backs Alex Whittle and Michael Duckworth for the Oldham clash, owing to calf and knee injuries respectively, with the former potentially in line for a return on Saturday.

“We’re hoping Alex will be included," confirmed Askey. "He’s back in training, so it’s just a case of seeing how fit he is.

“Ducky is back training. Hopefully he won’t be (out for) too long.

“We’ve still got to see whether one or two (others) will be back from (missing) previous games."

The fixtures continue to come thick and fast for the Minstermen.

After playing twice in the space of three days, in a 1-0 win at Maidenhead United on Saturday and Monday's 1-1 draw with Oldham, a near-600-mile round trip to Yeovil is up next.

"I was surprised on Monday because when we played Eastleigh (last month, losing 1-0), when we only had a short turnaround, we looked tired," added Askey.

“But I thought in the Oldham game, we finished as the stronger (team) and I was really pleased with the performance.

“It seems as though we’ve had a long break this week, so there's no problem there.

"It’s when you only get a day’s rest that you start to worry that lads are going to be fatigued and there’s going to be injuries.

“But we’ve had a good rest and we’re ready for the Yeovil game. I think that everyone is looking forward to it.”
