YORK City Ladies will play their first ever game at the LNER Community Stadium against Leeds United on Wednesday, October 19.

York’s maiden game at the LNER coincides with their first ever season in the FA Women’s National League division one north.

City’s term in the fourth tier of women’s football comes after they were promoted from the North East Regional Women’s League premier division last term as champions.

"We are over the moon to be able to announce that York City Ladies will be playing a number of selected fixtures at the (LNER) Community Stadium this year," said York chairperson Paula Stanton.

"This is ideal timing after the Lionesses win because we want to encourage as many of our community as possible to come and support us."

"Our thanks to the Stadium Management Company, who we agreed this with late last year and who have been a huge help with the planning of these fixtures.

"Ticket details and online pre-sales will be announced for the first game very soon."

They will begin their term against Norton and Stockton on Sunday, August 8, before hosting Bradford City in a Yorkshire derby.

Their closest game to Boxing Day, taking place on Sunday, December 11, is against Norton and Stockton once more and they will usher in the new year by taking on Bradford on Sunday, January 8.

To finish their season, on Sunday, April 30, York will travel to Barnsley.
