LENELL JOHN-LEWIS will remain at York City next season after agreeing a permanent deal with the club.
John-Lewis joined York on loan from Grimsby Town in February and was an integral part of City’s successful promotion push through the Vanarama National League North play-offs last month.
The 33-year-old played 21 times for John Askey’s side and saved his best form for the business end of the season, scoring six goals in the last seven matches, including strikes in each of the three play-off ties.
Having been released by newly-promoted Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby earlier this month, the striker has now signed a one-year deal with the Minstermen.
The news of John-Lewis' signature takes York’s number of announced signed-up players for the 2022/23 season up to 10.
Previous loanees Mitch Hancox and Sam Sanders have also joined permanently while Maxim Kouogun, Paddy McLaughlin, Olly Dyson, Ryan Whitley and Maziar Kouhyar have been retained.
Two new faces have arrived at City in the form of Boreham Wood striker Scott Boden and Port Vale winger Alex Hurst.
