YORK City supporters will have the opportunity to meet their new-look squad in next month's cricket match against Bishopthorpe CC.

The game will take place at Bishopthorpe's Ferry Lane on Sunday, July 17 (2pm), with York Gin hosting a bar and food vendors also in place at the ground.

"Fans are encouraged to attend and mix with the first-team squad in attendance," York said on social media.

Bishopthorpe will be led by Match Of The Day commentator Guy Mowbray during the 20-over match.

City will be donating two signed Centenary shirts to a raffle, with all proceeds doing to Bishopthorpe.

The event will take place the day after York’s pre-season friendly against Sky Bet League Two giants Bradford City at the LNER Community Stadium (3pm).

The warm-up match is the second of five currently scheduled pre-season fixtures, the first of which takes place next Friday (July 8, 7pm) at home to Sky Bet Championship contenders Middlesbrough.

Following the Bradford clash, John Askey’s side travel to Pitching In Northern Premier League premier division’s Guiseley on Tuesday, July 19 (7.30pm) before visiting phoenix club Macclesfield FC on Saturday, June 23 (3pm).

City close out pre-season at home to fellow Vanarama National League side Notts County, should the two sides not be scheduled to face one another in the league season’s first eight matches, when the 2022/23 fixture list is released on Wednesday.

The new National League season, York's first in the top-flight of non-league football since the 2016/17 campaign, gets underway from the following weekend, Saturday, August 6.
