YORK City Knights Ladies secured a third straight victory over former league champion opposition after beating Wigan Warriors 46-0.

Centre Emma Kershaw led the way for York, scoring a hat-trick for the Robin Park Arena visitors.

Further tries came from Tamzin Renouf, Georgia Taylor, Hollie Dodd, Sinead Peach, Savannah Andrade and Tara Stanley.

The latter also added five conversions from nine attempts.

The convincing victory over the 2018 Betfred Women's Super League winners follows on from wins over 2021 and 2019 champions St Helens (13-6) and Leeds Rhinos (24-10) respectively.

The Knights remain top of the Women's Super League group one, with a four-point gap in place above second-placed Leeds and a six-point advantage over pre-season title favourites St Helens, who are third.

Both clubs have one game in hand on the current league leaders.

Lindsay Anfield's side return to the field against Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, July 17 (12pm) at the LNER Community Stadium in a standalone fixture at the Monks Cross ground.

Last year's Super League Shield winners Huddersfield are currently bottom of the division, having lost all of their first three league matches.

York won the reverse meeting between the two clubs at Huddersfield YMCA 50-6 last month, with Kershaw and Dodd each bagging doubles for the Knights.
