YORK City have confirmed a fifth pre-season friendly after announcing a visit to Guiseley on Tuesday, July 19 (7.30pm).

Guiseley were relegated from the Vanarama National League North last season after finishing bottom of the division.

The Lions took just 35 points from 42 league matches and will now play in the Pitching In Northern Premier League premier division from next term.

York will head to Nethermoor Park for the first time since Kurt Willoughby’s wonder-goal earned City a first league win under then-interim manager John Askey back in December.

The two sides met again, most recently, at the LNER Community Stadium in February where a Mitch Hancox double and a Paddy McLaughlin strike sealed a 3-0 victory over the 10-man visitors.

Guiseley have put tickets on sale for the friendly online, stating that they “recommend purchasing in advance to avoid disappointment and to help queuing on the day at the turnstiles.”

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions (over-65s, under-18s and students) and £1 for U11s. Entry through the turnstiles is available on the night through cash only.

The trip to West Yorkshire falls between York's warm-up matches against Sky Bet League Two giants Bradford City, on Saturday, July 16 (3pm) at the LNER Community Stadium, and phoenix club Macclesfield FC, on Saturday, July 23 (3pm) at the Leasing.com Stadium.

City begin their pre-season preparations next Friday (July 8, 7pm) at home to Sky Bet Championship promotion contenders Middlesbrough.

The Minstermen host fellow Vanarama National League side Notts County on Saturday, July 30 (3pm) in what is their final confirmed friendly to date, although manager John Askey has spoken of his desire to potentially have as many as six pre-season fixtures before the league season kicks off on Saturday, August 6.

Fixtures for the new season, York’s first campaign back in the National League since 2016/17, will be released next Wednesday (July 6).
