MAZIAR KOUHYAR has agreed a new contract with York City to remain at the club for the 2022/23 season.

Kouhyar joined York from Hereford in March and quickly established himself as a starter as City secured promotion through the Vanarama National League North play-offs.

The winger played 13 times for the Minstermen, scoring his side's second in the 2-0 promotion-clinching victory over Boston United last month.

The Afghanistan international becomes the sixth confirmed member of York's squad for next season, after Maxim Kouogun, Paddy McLaughlin, Olly Dyson and new signings Scott Boden and Alex Hurst.

John Askey's side remain in contract renewals talks with Ryan Whitley, Scott Barrow, Jonny Haase, Lenell John-Lewis, Mitch Hancox and Sam Sanders.
