YORK City winger Maziar Kouhyar played 35 minutes as Afghanistan drew 2-2 with Cambodia in their Asian Cup qualification game.

Afghanistan were unable to qualify for the finals of the competition as two losses from their opening games left them six points adrift of India and Hong Kong in Group ‘D’.

They took an early lead through Faysal Shayesteh, before Mustafa Zazai doubled their advantage in the first half. Cambodia were able to pull one goal before the break.

In the 55th minute, Kouhyar replaced Mustafa Azadzoy and played the match on the right wing.

It seemed that Afghanistan would win the tie but a strike from Keo Sokpheng with less than 10 minutes to play saw the sides share the points.
