YORK City have confirmed another pre-season friendly for this summer as they will host Bradford City on Saturday, July 16 (3pm).

The clash against Bradford is the third friendly to be announced by York as part of their preparations for a return to the Vanarama National League.

The match against the Bantams will follow on from City's fixture against Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough, also at the LNER Community Stadium, on Friday, July 8 (7pm).

A week after the home meeting with Bradford, manager John Askey will lead his side to former club Macclesfield FC, the phoenix club of now-dissolved Macclesfield Town, on Saturday, July 23 (3pm).

Further friendlies are expected to be announced by York over the coming weeks, with the club seeking to take part in around six warm-up matches before the 2022/23 league campaign kicks off on Saturday, August 6.

Mid-July's friendly against Bradford will see the Bantams make their first-ever visit to the LNER Community Stadium following its opening in 2020.

The news also appears to have signalled a strengthening in the relationship between the two Yorkshire clubs.

Last summer, Bradford chief executive Ryan Sparks vowed not to do business with York "for the foreseeable future" after City used Clayton Donaldson, newly-signed from Valley Parade, in their promotional material for season-tickets, despite the striker still being paid by his former club.

York have stated that ticket prices for the three announced pre-season friendlies "will be unveiled in due course."
