COACH Ottis Gibson admitted that Yorkshire "did not have anything left in the tank" at the end of their draw at Warwickshire.

An unbeaten partnership of 227 from Warwickshire's Sam Hain (109) and Will Rhodes (111) saw the hosts close on 252/3 and leave Yorkshire having to settle for a fifth draw from six LV= Insurance County Championship division one matches.

The Tykes made a strong start by bowling their Midlands opponents all out for 244 before making 449 themselves, with Adam Lyth (145) and Harry Brook (82) the stand-out run-scorers.

Beginning the final day on 57/3, Warwickshire battled to a commendable draw via centuries from Hain and Rhodes.

Yorkshire coach Gibson reflected: “It was very tough for the players. When everybody woke up, that’s not what we saw or expected.

“But, fair play to the two Warwickshire batters, they played really well and batted nicely.

“The pitch, again, didn’t offer us much with the ball.

“They showed that, on that type of wicket, if you apply yourselves, it’s very hard to get you out.

“The first two innings the ball did a bit. But maybe it was the four heavy rollers (which deadened the pitch) - two per innings.

“It’s a difficult one for the boys. We tried really hard, but there was nothing there for us.

"Also, it’s a been long six-week slog. To come at the end of that and have to bowl a team out on a very flat pitch, meant that we perhaps didn’t have anything left in the tank.”
