THE York City Supporters’ Trust have called for the current contract with the club’s ticketing system suppliers to be terminated before the start of next season.

The call comes on the week of York’s Vanarama National League North play-off final against Boston United at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday (3pm), ahead of which numerous fans have voiced their issues with purchasing tickets online.

Supporters have expressed their frustrations over ticket confirmations not being emailed to them, error messages appearing on the website and the ticket phone line not being answered.

The York City Supporters’ Trust wrote on Twitter yesterday: “We suspect that most fans won't be receiving tickets by email due to ongoing bugs.

“It happens regularly but you can usually visit the 'My Account' page to have them resent. That page is currently throwing up an error.

“The contract needs terminating before next season.”

The Trust, who have a 25 per cent shareholding in York City, say they will share a user experience review with the club and the York Stadium Management Company shortly.

In response, York City wrote: “Please allow 24 hours for the ticket email to come through. We are experiencing very high demand all at once so there will be a delay.”

The comments from the Trust are one of several complaints from City supporters before the season-defining match.

A York season ticket holder told The Press: “The ticketing site has coped reasonably well during the season, showing it was catered to the expected demand.

“However, as soon they required alterations, such as these one-off games, it appears the template broke.

“Those issues are not unexpected. However, the main problem is the inability to fix such issues when they arise.

“The fact these issues are still not fixed is very poor, not least when this is the loyal season ticket base.

“This is an SMC issue, with zero communication skills from the SMC being the only consistent element.

“Immediate action is required to fix the ticketing system, followed by a review of the SMC's ability to mitigate future issues, not least if City are promoted and start to welcome even larger crowds in the higher division.”

Some York City Knights supporters have raised similar concerns ahead of this Sunday’s match with Halifax Panthers (3pm).

A York City Knights spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of ticketing issues for Sunday’s match with Halifax Panthers and have raised this with the York Stadium Management Company.”

The ticket issues follow on from the news that York City’s play-off final will have a capped crowd of 7,500 following the crowd trouble seen in last week’s match with Chorley.

Seats were damaged, flares were thrown between supporters and a partial pitch invasion took place before full time against Chorley, leading to the York Safety Advisory Group imposing a restricted attendance.

The Press have approached the York Stadium Management Company for comment but they did not reply at the time of publication.
