SPENNYMOOR Town could leapfrog York City in the Vanarama National League North with a win tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

Spennymoor travel to the LNER Community Stadium and are the team in better form, having won three of their past six matches.

Spennymoor, managed by the duo of Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, are currently 11th, however they are only two points behind York.

If other results went in favour of the Moors, a win against York could see them climb as high as sixth in the table, albeit, the Minstermen would still have a game in hand.

Across their last five matches away from home, Spennymoor have picked up an impressive return of 12 points from a possible 15.

Town have been better on the road this season than they have been at their Brewery Field home ground, boasting the eighth-best away record in the division this term.

City will need to be aware of Town striker Glen Taylor, who this season has bagged 21 goals and is currently the fourth-most prolific scorer in the National League North.

Spennymoor have both conceded and scored 48 goals in the league this season, owing to a solid enough defence and a Taylor-led attack.

Spennymoor will be looking to beat York for the first time since 2019, when they triumphed 3-2 at Bootham Crescent.

Town lost the earlier season match up with York 3-1 at Brewery Field in August in what was their fourth match of the campaign.

Goals from Kurt Willoughby, Clayton Donaldson and Mark Beck securing three points for York, cancelling out an own goal from Sam Fielding that initially levelled the match at 1-1.
