JAMES FORD has hailed Will Jubb as a "lesson for everyone" as he prepares to make his 100th York City Knights appearance.

Jubb is in line to reach triple figures for York matches when the Knights host Newcastle Thunder on Saturday evening (6pm).

Having joined the club back in 2017 from Hull KR, head coach Ford hailed the hooker's trans-formation.

“He was in and out of the team at the start because I thought he needed to improve his defence," said Ford.

"When you sign a kid from a Super League environment, they can have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder.

“But Will just embraced our feedback and really worked on all of the areas of the game that I asked him to work on.

“We’ve got to the point now where we don’t want to take him off because he’s our best defender in the middle.

“That’s a lesson for everyone in and around the club and the area. The feedback that your coach gives you is to help you become better and Jubby has embraced that.

“To look at the levels that he defends at for the duration that he defends at, it’s so impressive.

“I’m proud that he’s going to make 100 appearances for York and let’s hope there’s plenty more.”
