TWO City of York Hockey Club junior sides secured their places in the Supra League National Finals with a pair of victories over Bowdon, writes Clive Marshall.

The Under-16s Girls 'A' won 7-0 away to Bowdon thanks to braces from Hattie Henebury, Charlotte Henebury, Olivia Clegg and a strike from Kate Barker.

Meanwhile, the U14s Boys 'A' thrashed their Manchester counterparts 11-3 thanks to a remarkable 10 goals from Aidan Gaunt-Edwards with Cameron MacIntosh the other player on the York scoresheet.

Elsewhere, the U16s Boys 'A' won 5-2 against Bowden while the Lancashire club beat City of York U14s Girls 'A' 7-0.

By contrast, City of York's senior sides fared far worse however, with the Men's sides picking up just three wins from nine matches.

City of York I fell to two defeats in the space of three days after losing 7-2 at Lindum I and 5-1 at Sheffield University Bankers I.

Alex Cockram scored twice for York against Lindum while Jack Bass provided the only resistance in South Yorkshire.

Bass was also the sole scorer in the II side's 6-1 defeat at home to Leeds Adel II.

Goals from Ben Gregory (2) and Emil Waites were not enough for the III outfit to overcome Wakefield II, York going down as 4-3 losers.

There were however victories for City of York IV and V, who beat Halifax I (7-3) and Halifax II (5-3) respectively.

Rob Prentice and George Trowsdale were at the double for the former, complemented by strikes from Matt Todd, Russ Bowry and Mark Moisley.

For the latter, Trowsdale bagged a hat-trick and was ably supported by James Gilbert and Rob Barker goals.

Leeds Adel IV beat City of York VI 2-0 while York's VII team drew 0-0 with Ben Rhydding IV.

Four goals from Ernest Wordsworth gave York X a 4-0 win at Ben Rhydding Development.

Elsewhere, City of York Ladies I lost 3-1 at home to Morpeth I while the II side drew 1-1 at Rotherham I.

Tadcaster Magnets I beat York III 2-0 while Thirsk III thrashed York VII 10-0. Scarborough overcame York IV 3-1.
