TADCASTER Albion remain only a point above the Pitching In Northern Premier League east relegation play-offs after a 3-0 home loss to Shildon.

Goals for Ben Trotter and Michael Sweet either side of a Jordan Deacey own goal saw Shildon ease past Albion at Ings Lane, in what was their eighth home loss of the season.

Winger Donald Chimalilo, who had scored three goals in the previous two games for Tadcaster, was unable to keep up his scoring form as Shildon breezed past their visitors.

Albion remain embroiled in a fight at the bottom of the table, sitting only a point clear of the relegation play-off game, with eight games remaining.

Elsewhere in the division, Pickering Town remain rooted to the bottom despite a late equaliser from Jamie Thornton securing a 3-3 draw against Yorkshire Amateur at Mill Lane.

Amateur seemed to have all the momentum, especially after a late strike from Jamie Fogarty to make it 3-2.

Town battled back though and, through Thornton’s penalty in the dying embers, they were able to secure a point that may prove vital for their survival hopes.

They now sit six points behind third-from-bottom Lincoln United with a game in hand as they look for a late season push towards safety, having fought against the drop for much of the campaign.

In the Toolstation Northern Counties East League division one, Selby Town picked up their first win of the month with an impressive 3-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare.

Daniel Davison put Selby in front at half time and Town consolidated their lead through Ryan Cooper and Liam Flanagan.

A seven-point gap currently Selby from the play-off places with seven games remaining. However, the eighth-placed Robins have a game in hand on all teams above them.

Next up Tadcaster Albion travel to Worksop on Saturday (3pm), Pickering Town are away at Brighouse (3pm) and Selby Town play hosts to Brigg Town on Tuesday, March 15 at 7.45pm.
