CITY of York Hockey Club Men I picked up four good points over the weekend as they rose to fourth in Yorkshire & North East League premier division.

On Saturday, City drew 3-3 at home to Harrogate before beating Whitley Bay & Tynemouth 4-3 on Sunday to go above Leeds II and level on points with third-placed Stockton I.

Rob Bradley-Consitt, Charlie Borwell and Dan Ellwood were on target in the second half against Harrogate, who had the final say in the hard-fought, to-and-fro encounter.

Bradley-Consitt was then at the double against Whitley Bay, with Borwell and Jack Allerton adding.

Whitley Bay thrice fought back from a goal down, only to be undone by Bradley-Consitt's late second.

In-form City of York II won 7-2 at Huddersfield I in division one Yorkshire. Jack Fletcher netted a second hat-trick in as many games, with Alfie Spouse netting a brace. George Good and Pip Ho added a single strike apiece.

Philip Cook's goal was not enough for division one Yorkshire strugglers City of York III, who lost 4-1 at home to Driffield I.

Alex Stephenson netted a consolation for City of York IV at Rotherham in division two Yorkshire on Saturday.

The day after, City beat Ramgarhia 4-1 thanks to goals from Pat Herriott, Chris Dutton, Russ Bowry and Aaron Clements.

City of York X showed great character to come back from two goals down in a 3-2 win at Ben Rhydding in Yorkshire League Men's Development north division.

Ernest Wordsworth was the man of the hour, bagging a second-half hat-trick.

City of York Ladies I got back to winning ways with a 3-0 triumph at Newcastle University I.

York went into the game having lost back-to-back Yorkshire & North East Women's League premier division games.

But goals from Niamh Clements, Molly Ake and Heather Macdonald got City back on track to see them rise to fifth after the win in the North East.

Newcastle started the game well and York had to ride the storm for the first five minutes, but quickly grew into the game and began to dominate.

York began putting pressure on the Newcastle defence and soon won a couple of short corners, the second of which was put away by Clements with a composed finish.

The visitors dominated the midfield, winning the ball back with ease and passing it around well.

And the pressure was rewarded when Ake finished instinctively after a goalmouth scramble.

York continued to dictate play, creating good chances, and shortly before half-time won another short corner, which was converted by Macdonald.

Newcastle had some spells of sustained pressure but the York defence held up brilliantly, frustrating the hosts by denying any clear chances.

City of York II thrashed Ben Rhydding III 7-1. Vicky Skilton scored a hat-trick with Libby Rhodes getting a brace. There were single strikes for Grace Law and Ali Couttie.

Nicola Winter scored two and Rachel Hildreth one as City of York IV beat Ben Rhydding IV 3-0.

Holly Clayden netted twice as City of York V won 4-2 at Selby II in division one moor.

Zoe Searson and Sarah Davies added the other two strikes for York.

City started brightly but fell behind following a Selby short corner, which Selby backed up with a period of pressure.

York regrouped and equalised through Clayden from a through ball into the 'D'.

Selby re-took the lead after the break but from thereon, it was all York.

Clayden netted her second equaliser of the day before Searson and Davies added for the visitors.

City of York VI were awarded a 5-0 win and three points over Scarborough II, who conceded the division one moor fixture.

Division one moor basement side City of York VII lost 11-0 at home to table-toppers Pickering.
