A YORK Billiards League player has achieved a huge personal accolade by winning the first ranking event of his career.
Darren Clark, who plays for Heworth in the York League, won the 2022 World Billiards Jersey Open over the weekend off February 25 to 27.
Clark was undefeated throughout the three-day tournament, winning all four of his group matches and receiving a bye into the last 16 as one of the best performing qualifiers. His 500-38 group-stage win over Mark Hill included an impressive three century breaks.
Nathan Mann was Clark's opponent in the final, in which he swept to victory with a 549-157 win, including a 130 break.
