BOOTHAM ‘A’ won their fifth straight match to consolidate their lead at the top of the York Snooker League with a 3-1 win at home to Malton.

Dan Pawson edged the first frame for Malton before Paul Scorfield held his nerve with a good blue and pink to level the score.

In the third frame, Andy Proud got off to a good start with an early 30 break and was always in control.

In the last frame, Chris Thompson took an early lead, only for Chris Atkinson to hit back with a 20 break. Thompson then took the frame with a long pink followed by a long black.

Elsewhere, Heworth ‘B’ drew 2-2 at home to Acomb ‘A’ with the first three frames been decided on the final black.

Andy Ogley secured the first frame for Heworth, with Jon Milner bagging the next frame for Acomb.

Mick Borg then defeated Jack Overton to put Acomb into a 2-1 lead before Jim Rollinson - aided by a 27 break - beat Keith Thornhill to secure a 2-2 draw.

Castle ‘A’ walls were breached for the first time as they went down 3-1 to Bootham ‘B’.

Jeff Collins fell to Ian Robinson, Paul Johnson then lost to Paul Mahoney and John Normington lost to Matt Smith, who potted the last four colours to secure the win.

Paul Fotherby rescued a point for Castle by defeating Lionel Barnes in the final frame.

Heworth ‘A’ continue to struggle as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Fulford ‘B’.

Cameron Fennell knocked in a 46 break to secure the first frame against Kevin Gall.

James Bonwick and Karl Mullen beat Gary Douglas and Richard Burdett, respectively, to make the lead 3-0.

Steve Burdett then salvaged a point for Heworth by defeating Russell Shaw.
