ONLY four City of Hockey Club matches survived a disrupted latest round of fixtures amid Storm Eunice, writes Clive Marshall.

In total, five matches across the Men's and Ladies' sides fell foul to the weather conditions.

Snow on the pitch ensured that the clash between the men's II and III sides was postponed along with the VI's home game with Boston Spa II and the Badgers' clash against Ben Rhydding Development.

For the Ladies, their II outfit were only able to play 15 minutes away to Huddersfield I before snow forced the match's abandonment.

City of York V and VI were due to face off, but the snow postponed the meeting of the two sides.

Of the four matches to be played, only York Men IV were able to finish as winners, defeating Boston Spa I 7-3.

Russ Bowry and Peter Bennett each hit braces for York while Andy Kay, Alex Stephenson and Aaron Clements were also on the scoresheet for the home side.

The other Men's match saw Huddersfield Dragons II thrash City of York VII 8-0.

City of York Ladies IV were also heavily beaten at home to Bridlington I, with Nicola Winter the only goal-scoring player for the hosts.

Selby II won 3-0 away to City of York Ladies VII, a scoreline which failed to reflect the spirit and determination showed by the latter.

City of York Men I, V, VIII and IX had no scheduled match while the Ladies I and III also had the week off.
