YORK City have brought in Lenell John-Lewis on a one-month loan from Grimsby Town.

The striker has made 149 appearances for the National League Mariners across two spells, scoring 36 goals.

He is eligible to play in City's home league game against AFC Telford United tonight.

John-Lewis played for Grimsby between 2013 and 2015 before going on to Newport County, Shrewsbury Town - where he played under City boss John Askey - and National League North side Hereford.

He scored a brace for the Bulls in a 4-1 win at Bootham Crescent in March 2020.

The 32-year-old re-joined the Mariners in the January transfer window of 2021.

His parent club said: "We would like to wish Lenell all the best on his short spell away from the club."
