CITY of York Hockey Club Men I kept the Yorkshire & North East League premier division top four in their sights with a 1-1 draw at Stockton I.

It was a lower-scoring affair than the 9-5 defeat City suffered to Stockton earlier in the season, with Tom Feasby bagging the equalising goal for the visitors.

York are fifth in the table, four points and one place below Stockton.

It did not take long for Stockton to take the lead, the ball being launched over the York midfield and defence to a player who let the ball run beyond the final defender and goalkeeper to finish into an empty net.

The visitors woke up, and enjoyed good spells of possession in the Stockton half. The occasional break from the hosts was swept up outside the York 'D' and turned into a counter-attack.

City continued this pattern in the second half and, after a few more close attempts on goal, the ball finally crossed the line after a shot from Feasby.

Stockton rallied towards the end and put plenty of pressure on York but the visitors held firm.

Cameron McKay got City of York II's consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat to Driffield I, who sit second in division one Yorkshire.

Two points and two spots behind City II are club-mates City III, who earned a 2-2 draw at University of Hull I thanks to goals from Ben Gregory and Joel Wilson.

In division one moor & dale, City of York V lost 1-0 to Leeds VI.

Cross-city rivals Acomb I had a goalless draw with second-placed University of Leeds I.

Goals from James Hogg and Harry Hayes were not enough to prevent City of York VI from going down 3-2 to Leeds VII in division two moor & dale.

Second from bottom in that division, City of York VII lost 5-0 at home to Leeds Adel IV.

City of York IX lost 3-0 at home to Scarborough II in division one moor.

Zak Fraser and Nathaniel Graham were on target for City of York X in their 2-0 Yorkshire League Men's Development north division win over Slazengers.

City of York Ladies I had a strong weekend in the Yorkshire & North East Women's League premier division, drawing 1-1 with Lindum I on Saturday before beating Sheffield Hallam I 4-2 on Sunday.

York started a touch slowly against Lindum but soon found their groove, peppering the visitors' defence before Niamh Clements netted to send City into the break in front.

Despite a number of second-half short corners, York could not extend their lead, and Lindum equalised on the counter-attack.

A wobbly start against Hallam saw the visitors take an early lead before Clements equalised with her second goal of the weekend just three minutes after.

Hallam showed good distribution and got a second before the break.

York were far from beaten, though, and Lily Rowntree scored York’s equaliser five minutes into the second half.

With renewed determination, York clattered in two more goals, both from Heather MacDonald.

City of York II let a two-goal lead slip away to draw 3-3 away at Harrogate II in division one Yorkshire. Vicky Skilton (2) and Libby Rhodes hit the backboard for York.

Annabel Howells-Lee and Kelly Hunter netted as City of York III beat Skipton I 2-1 in division one moor & dale.

Nicola Winter scored a brace as City of York IV won 5-2 at University of Leeds III in division two moor & dale. Winter was joined on the scoresheet by Will Linden, Rachel Hildreth and El Young.

In the same division, Acomb beat Aire Valley II 3-1.

City of York VI won 4-0 at Harrogate VI in division one moor with Ellie Morris (2), Lucie Krebs and Adele Brydon-Brown.
