TADCASTER Albion moved out of the bottom three with an emphatic 4-0 victory away to Bridlington Town, writes John Clothier.

Tadcaster headed into the game on a run of four straight defeats in the Pitching In Northern Premier League east but overturned their poor form with a comprehensive win.

Albion remain level on 19 points with Frickley Athletic, who occupy the division's relegation play-off place, but are now two points clear of the automatic drop zone.

It was Bridlington who seized the early momentum, forcing a corner from their first foray into the Tadcaster half, although it was comfortably taken by goalkeeper Ally Hughes.

Kesi Omolokun then slotted a perfect through ball to Taddy striker Eddie Church but keeper James Hitchcock was quickly out to avoid a one on one.

After Jack Carr was hacked down on five minutes, Jordan Deacey’s free kick for Albion was cleared before Church's shot went high on the end of Omolokun’s defence splitter.

Kieran Burton’s timely interception was vital as Andy Norfolk teed up a close-range chance and from the corner nobody picked up ex-Brewer Pete Davidson as he charged into the area but the final shot went wide.

Another pin-point delivery from Deacey needed just a toe to break the deadlock but try as he may, Burton could not turn the shot home just feet from the far post.

However Tadcaster had gained the upper hand and could have opened their account a minute later but Church’s header from a corner was inches wide.

The visitors went even closer when Donald Chimalilo showed some blistering pace before pulling the ball back for Chris Howarth, whose goal-bound effort was scraped off the goal line.

Captain Simon Russell side footed towards goal but Hitchcock was equal to it whilst Jack Carr was upended for the second time in the match.

Carr went fractionally wide at the mid-point of the half and Chimalilo blasted over, having side stepped past three defenders en route.

With three minutes left before the break, Taddy got the goal their persistence had promised.

Again Chimalilo wreaked havoc down the left wing and although his shot was saved, it spilled to Church who opened his tally with an emphatic finish.

The second half continued where the first had left off and the visitors increased their lead on 55 minutes when Church doubled his and the team’s advantage.

Chimalilo again caused the danger before pulling the ball back to Church who thundered the ball into the top corner.

It could have been three on the hour mark but James Burgess, having rounded Hitchcock, failed to see the waiting Chimalilo.

Church went close with a volley on 64 minutes as he looked for his hat trick.

Albion were looking for a third to put the match beyond doubt and Burgess almost obliged on 66 minutes when he went around Hitchcock only for the shot to be cleared off the line.

Then in a scramble in the six-yard area, Chimalilo, with some delicate footwork, just managed to get the ball over the line.

Tadcaster capped their victory with a fourth goal three minutes before the final whistle.

Des Amponsah created the opening for Mark Ferguson to smash the ball home.
