MACCLESFIELD RUFC will pay their first ever visit to Clifton Park to take on York RUFC tomorrow afternoon (3pm).

Macclesfield are one of the biggest clubs competing in this season’s North Premier, having featured in the National League One - rugby union’s third tier - as recently as 2017.

The Blues’ past reputation has counted for little during the current campaign though as they currently find themselves in sixth after eight wins and eight defeats.

By contrast, York are competing in the fifth tier for the first time this season, although they sit just six points and three places behind sixth-places Macclesfield.

York return to Clifton Park without a league victory on the field since late November, having failed to win any of their last five matches.

They will however by boosted by return of number eight Shane Goulding and prop Will Scholey, who has been absent since November.

Louis Recchia is set to make senior debut at hooker for the home side.

York may also take confidence from a narrow clash with Macclesfield in the reverse fixture back in October, which the Cheshire club edged 22-21.

York RUFC squad: 1. John Aikman, 2. Louis Recchia, 3. Kyle Consterdine, 4. Archie Fothergill, 5. Willem Enslin, 6. Ross White (C), 7. Joe Simpson, 8. Shane Goulding, 9. Toby Atkin, 10. Declan Cusack, 11. Sam Elliot, 12. Ben Dyson-Dent, 13. George Davies, 14. Sam Taylor, 15. Liam Hessay. 16. Will Scholey, 17. Will Kinnersley, 18. Tom Woffendin.

Meanwhile, in the North One East, Malton & Norton return to The Gannock to host fourth-from-bottom Morley.

In the same division, Pocklington will be hoping to leapfrog Scarborough when they visit Silver Royd.

Selby will be seeking to end a run of four straight defeats in the Yorkshire One as they travel to second-placed Old Crossleyans.

In the Yorkshire Four North/West, Nestle Rowntree entertain division leaders Thirsk, who have recorded 13 wins from as many matches.

Fifth plays sixth elsewhere in the division as York RI head to Halifax.
