YORK City have signed Cameroonian centre-back Maxim Kouogun on a free transfer from League of Ireland premier division side Shelbourne.
The 24-year-old joins until the end of the season and is available for selection in Saturday's FA Trophy fourth round game at home to Slough Town.
Kouogun came through the ranks at Irish side UCD, featuring in their Europa League qualifying campaign in 2015/16, and went on to play for Warrenpoint, Waterford, Harrogate Town and Wealdstone.
He has impressed manager John Askey on trial and in a behind-closed-doors friendly last week.
On joining Kouogun said: “I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going now.
“I’ve got just short of 150 appearances under my belt so I’m looking forward to bringing that experience over to England and really kick on.
“It’s a good group of lads and I just can’t wait to start playing games - I’ve got pace and other attributes I think I can bring.
“Promotion has to be in mind – come in and get as high as possible in the table and play as many games as possible.”
