SIX York City Knights Ladies players have been named in England’s National Performance Group as part of preparations for this year’s Rugby League World Cup.

Led by head coach Craig Richards, the 31-strong group will meet for the first time this year on Saturday at Weetwood Sports Park in Leeds.

And in among the stars are established Knights Savannah Andrade, Grace Field, Kelsey Gentles and Olivia Wood, as well as new recruits Hollie Dodd and Tara Stanley.

The Rugby Football League are looking to finalise a mid-season international programme which will see England take to the field before their World Cup campaign kicks off against Brazil at Headingley on Tuesday, November 1.

Meanwhile, the Knights could also have some of their Women’s Super League fixtures shown live by the Sportsman.

The broadcaster - who showed both York the men’s and ladies’ Challenge Cup fixtures against Wigan Warriors last season - has agreed a deal with the RFL for this campaign to show games from Women’s Super League and Challenge Cup, League One, and Wheelchair Rugby League.
