YORK City Knights winger AJ Towse has been named in the North squad for the University Origin match in February.
Towse featured for the North-East Universities side in their inter-regional match last month, scoring two tries.
The Knights youngsters will now line-up for the North outfit against their South opponents at Loughborough University on Sunday, February 6 (3pm).
Both squads will be reduced to 20 ahead of the game with a final squad of 26 being selected for the England programme which commences in March.
On his inclusion, Towse said: “I’m delighted to have been selected.
"It’s a great opportunity to train with some other young players in a different environment, hopefully play some representative rugby and to represent York St John University.
“The pandemic has meant that players have missed out on the representative programme (in 2021), so it’s great to be back.
“Myself and the rest of the staff have been itching to get back at it since we had to the England programme on hold in early 2020.
"The players have told me that they missed not being able to play at University and be part of all the heritage that the England Universities programme has.”
York University's Isaac Coleman and Jack Earl are also named in the squad.
