FORMER York City Knights forward Dave Petersen has returned to rugby league after joining Doncaster RLFC.

Petersen had been out of the sport since leaving York at the end of the 2019 season.

The loose forward featured seven times for James Ford's side, scoring one try, as the Knights finished third in the Betfred Champion-ship.

Petersen told Doncaster RLFC's club website: “I was out of the game last year but seeing the way Doncaster operate made me keen to get back into it.

“I want to be part of a successful side, I had a few chats with Richard Horne and it just felt right from both sides.

“Hopefully the experience I have can bring the best of those around me, as well my energy around the place.”

Meanwhile fellow former Knight Ben Cockayne has penned a one-year extension with the Dons.

The 38-year-old former Hull KR back came out of retirement to return for the club last year.
