JON FLATMAN has hailed the "tremendous work" done by newly-appointed director who won York City Knights’ Clubperson of the Year award for the 2021 season.

Gulliver was announced as the club’s new director earlier this month, a role he will take alongside his existing position as general manager.

Having joined the club in 2014, Gulliver first served as Foundation manager before becoming general manager.

This year Gulliver was influential in the logistics behind the club’s transition the LNER Community Stadium and in implementing the government and RFL coronavirus guidelines.

Speaking at the club’s fans forum, chairman Flatman hailed Gulliver’s impact away from the pitch.

He said: “Behind the scenes, whole new protocols were implemented regarding testing, evaluation measurements, and scrutiny from the RFL.

“That put pressures on the playing staff and the off-field staff.

“In addition to that, we’ve had the transition to the new stadium which has been a challenge for everybody and I think we’re coming out on the other side of it.

“Neil has done a tremendous amount of work in terms of the stadium transition and as the Covid officer.”

The award was previously won by club volunteer John Thompson.
