YORK City have loaned in Bolton Wanderers right-back Adam Senior ahead of tomorrow's trip to Curzon Ashton.

The 19-year-old comes in on a one-month loan to boost the squad in the ongoing absence of senior right-back Michael Duckworth, who will be out for at least another month, manager Steve Watson said.

He will lift the pressure off midfielders Olly Dyson and Sam Fielding, both of whom have stood in at full back this season.

Senior has made five first-team appearances for hometown club Bolton after signing his first professional contract in May 2020.

He has spent time on loan at Ashton United this season, making seven appearances and scoring three goals.

“It will be a good experience for me," Senior said. "It’s something new and it’s about getting the experience against men and hopefully take that into my career with Bolton.”

Watson added: “I’m really pleased to get a bit more balance to the squad.

"For a while now we’ve had square pegs in rounds holes in that position – Sam and Olly did well there for a long time but to get a natural right-back in can only help us.

"He has played a lot of games in the league below us which is the main thing you want from a 19-year-old – you want them to have played in that type of environment and knowing that they can physically handle it ticks a big box for us."

Centre-back Josh King is eligible for Saturday as his FA ban runs out on the same day.

Mackenzie Heaney is struggling with an illness and is a doubt.
