OSBALDWICK Football Club are hosting a memorial match against Dringhouses in the New Year.

The game between the two giants of the York & District League will be held in memory of Osso legends Dave Taylor, Andy Green, John Bell and Jim Lamb.

Taylor, who passed away in 2009, managed Osbaldwick during the club’s most successful period in the late 1980s and early 1990s, a period of unprecedented success which former chairman Bell oversaw.

Green was a hugely popular Osbaldwick player who died in 2009 aged just 43 following a cancer diagnosis just two months earlier.

Lamb passed away aged 86 in September last year after a short illness.

Kick off at Osbaldwick is 11am on Sunday, January 9, 2022, with the day supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and St Leonard’s Hospice.

The sports club will be open from 9.30am. The club will be hosting a coffee and cake morning, which is open for anybody to attend.

Refreshments will be served from 11am and there will be food available after the game for all.

There will also be a raffle in the clubhouse after the game, from which all proceeds will go to the two charities.

A spokesperson for the club said :”We hope you can attend and share a drink, laugh and memories of Dave, Andy, John and Jim, all of which had a massive influence on Osbaldwick Sports Club and are dearly missed.”
