YORK & District Schoolboys had a successful outing in their latest round of action, with the club’s under-15s and under-13s sealing victories.

The U15s eased to a 5-1 victory at home to Leeds, earning the double over the West Yorkshire club after a similarly convincing win earlier in the season.

The early pressure was being applied by York who took the lead after an excellent Billy Hobson free-kick caught out the Leeds defence and was tapped in at the far post by Dom Weston.

That opener stung Leeds into action. They gained a free kick just outside York’s penalty area and the ball was not dealt with, allowing the visitors to equalise.

York regained the lead before half time as the break quickly approached. The pacy Ben Garbutt Smith beat his marker and his low cross was met by Enzo Nunnari who crashed the ball into the net.

Nunnari doubled the Schoolboys’ lead after the interval when he converted a penalty after Leeds were punished for handball.

Having assisted Nunnari’s first goal, Garbutt Smith got his name on the scoresheet by skilfully flicking the ball past the goalkeeper and into the side of the net.

The final goal of the game was scored by Nunnari, who secured his treble by latching onto a bouncing clearance, beat the keeper to the ball and ran it into the empty net.

Unsurprisingly, hat-trick hero Nunnari was named as man of the match, mainly owing to his cool nature in front of goal.

Meanwhile, York’s U13s were also victorious as they came away with a 1-0 win from their trip to Doncaster.

The nip-and-tuck game appeared set to be decided by a sole goal and thus it proved.

Ewan Daly bagged the only goal of the game when he drew a foul in box before dispatching the resultant penalty.

For the U13s, attentions now turn to their next game at home to Sheffield on the weekend of November 20/21.
