JOHN ASKEY will be joining the York City management team to support Steve Watson on a temporary basis from later this week.
Askey was due to attend York's National League North game at Leamington on Tuesday night as a spectator.
The 57-year-old made more than 500 appearances for Macclesfield Town across three decades and before going on to manage the Silkmen over two periods.
Most recently, he managed League Two side Port Vale.
