FORMER York City Knights star Connor Robinson has signed for Betfred League One promotion challengers Doncaster RLFC for the 2022 season.

Robinson departed York ahead of the 2021 season to return to Betfred Championship rivals Halifax Panthers.

The half-back struggled to make his mark at the Shay Stadium in 2021 though after suffering a broken foot during the season, which limited his appearances.

Robinson will now hope to kickstart his career at Doncaster, who will likely be among the favourites to win the third tier title next year.

The Dons were beaten at Workington in the Betfred League One play-off final last month, having finished fifth in the regular season.

Robinson told Doncaster RLFC's club website: “I’m very pleased, there have been conversations going on for a little while so it’s good to have it all sorted.

“I’ve got a couple of mates at the club who said I would enjoy it here, and once I knew opportunities at Halifax would be limited I wanted to find a new club.

“Everytime I’ve played at the Keepmoat I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve got the desire to be a success at the club.”

The 27-year-old has a well-established record in the League One, primarily through his time at York.

He won the division's Player of the Year award in 2018 having played a key role to the Knights' title win.

In the following year, Robinson was a regular as James Ford's side finished third upon their return to the Betfred Championship.

Last year, Robinson was voted by supporters into an all-time starting13 of players to have represented the club since its reformation in 2002.
