BRENDAN O'HAGAN has committed his future to York City Knights for the 2022 season after signing a contract extension with the club.
O'Hagan arrived at York from Australia ahead of last season and showed early promise before a series of injuries limited him to just six Betfred Championship appearances.
Earlier in the off-season, the 22-year-old completed a hip operation and will be hoping to show his best form in an injury-free year.
Speaking about retaining the former Newcastle Knights, Canberra Raiders and Wests Tigers half-back, Knights head coach James Ford said: “I’m really pleased to re-sign Brendan.
"He has a great understanding of the game and demonstrated his ability at times last season.
“Despite missing almost all pre-season with a freak injury Brendan started the season in awesome form.
"It was difficult for him to deal with numerous setbacks, especially at such a young age.
“Those experiences will make him stronger. I’m excited by the competition we have in the half-back positions this year,” Ford added, having already recruited playmakers Jamie Ellis and Liam Harris from Leigh and Halifax respectively.
O’Hagan added: “I’m really excited to be staying at the club and I’m happy that the club has shown this faith in me by offering me a deal, so I’m really looking forward to a big 2022.
“Obviously I need to get my body right, it was a tough year with injury but hopefully I can get a good, strong pre-season in and that I can come out firing in 2022."
