YORK City centre-back Josh King has been given a one-month suspension for betting rules breaches.

The defender was charged by the Football Association in August in respect of 139 bets placed on football matches between August 2019 and April 2021.

FA rule E8 says that players, coaches, match officials and club staff are prohibited from betting on the outcome of football matches.

His suspension expires on November 12.

Assistant manager Micky Cummins was also charged with 148 bets placed on football matches between January 2015 and March 2019.

He is awaiting a ruling.

The club said: "We are very disappointed by the situation. However, we will continue to support those affected throughout the process."

On-loan keeper Ryan Whitley and current midfielder Michael Woods have both previously been disciplined for betting breaches.
