YORK RUFC will be seeking their away win of the North Premier season when they make the trip to Sandal tomorrow afternoon, writes Rob Long.

York have made a strong start to life in the fifth tier of rugby union and in their first season at this level.

The Clifton Park club have recorded three convincing home wins but have fallen to three defeats on the road, two of those, it should be pointed out, coming against sides relegated from National Two North last season.

This weekend sees the North Yorkshire side travel to Sandal, who sit in 11th place, three places below York in 8th.

The Wakefield outfit have two victories and four losses to their name this term. York will hoping to capitalise on a defence which has conceded 260 points, the most outside the bottom two, and at least 50 in their last three matches.

York’s success over the last five years has been built on a strong nucleus of players coming through the club's junior system and they regularly field more than 10 home-grown players in their match day squad.

Their team shows three changes from last week's excellent 42-17 home win over Wirral.

Backs Sam Elliot and Liam Hessay return from injury with forward Will Norris coming into the squad to replace the unavailable Dan Coe.

York's 2nd XV, who are top of the Yorkshire Merit Premiership, also travel to Sandal.
