YORKSHIRE bowler Matthew Fisher has been named in the 14-player England Lions squad which will tour Australia from November.

Fisher is the only Yorkshire representative in the squad, although former White Rose batter Alex Lees, now of Durham is included.

The Easingwold star previously featured for the Lions back in 2018’s victory over India 'A' at Worcester.

Fisher took 20 wickets for Yorkshire last season at an average of 19.65 from five LV= Insurance County Championship matches as the Tykes qualified for Division One through the conference system.

The touring party are set to depart on Thursday, November 4.

They travel alongside the Test specialists selected in the Ashes squad, which will be captained by Joe Root and includes fellow Yorkshire stars Jonny Bairstow, Dom Bess and Dawid Malan.

The selection of Fisher and his team-mates is subject to passing Lions minimum fitness standards, which will be administered over the coming weeks.

The Lions will be in camp alongside the England Ashes squad and will play two intra-squad matches in Queensland. These will consist of one three-day match and one four-day match.

They will also take on Australia 'A' in a four-day match. The dates and venues for these matches are still to be confirmed.

The party will return home on Thursday, December 16. The Lions’ coaching appointments will be announced in due course.

The squad includes four ex-Test players: James Bracey, Mason Crane, Ben Foakes and Dom Sibley.
