PERRY WHITELEY has moved from York City Knights to Betfred Championship rivals Batley Bulldogs.

The 28-year-old winger joined partway through the promotion-winning 2018 season, helping the Knights to the second tier of English club rugby league.

He scored seven tries in nine appearances in league and cup for the Knights last season, including one at Wembley Stadium to ensure the Knights had the last say in the 1895 Cup final defeat against Featherstone Rovers.

Most of Whiteley's appearances came towards the end of the 2021 campaign, during which he also spent two weeks on loan at Featherstone.

The Knights on Twitter wished Whiteley well in his move.

"Best of luck to Perry Whiteley, who moves on from the Knights to Batley Bulldogs," the club said.

"Thanks for your efforts in a Knights shirt, Perry."

Batley finished last season fourth in the Championship. They lost 51-12 against French juggernauts Toulouse Olympique in the play-off semi-finals.
