CITY of York Hockey Club Ladies I lost 2-1 at Sheffield Hallam I in Yorkshire & North East Women's League premier division.

The Minster city outfit, who won at Leeds University last week, sit seventh in the table after two games.

York started slowly in South Yorkshire and went a goal down before Heather Macdonald equalised from a short corner.

But the hosts netted late in the second half.

City of York Men I lost 5-1 at home to Ben Rhydding in Yorkshire & North East Men's League premier division, a second defeat from two leaving them second-from-bottom.

City Men II beat club-mates City Men III 4-3 in division one.

The seconds started strongly and within 10 minutes, Dan Tompkins slotted one past the advancing keeper.

Ten minutes on and the ball broke to Tompkins, who calmly pushed it past the keeper for a second.

Austen Pattison pulled one back for the thirds, who were starting to grow into the game, getting around his marker and and striking home.

Patrick Herriot levelled for the thirds but James Fitton restored the seconds' lead just before the break.

Defender Alfie Spoose equalised again for the hard-pressing thirds in the second period before Fitton flicked in the winner for the seconds.

City Men IV sit fourth in division two after losing 2-0 at Ben Rhydding II.

City Men VII lost 4-0 at home to Huddersfield Dragons II in moor & dale division two.

Fielding a side with a large number of youngsters for whom this was their first introduction to senior hockey, City Men X fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Huddersfield Dragons in Yorkshire League Men's Development north division.
