YORK City have formed a partnership with YO1 Radio which will see the station become the club’s official radio partner.

As part of the venture, YO1 Radio will take over the club’s newly named YO1 Radio Fanzone at the LNER Community Stadium on matchdays.

The fanzone will be equipped with a branded stage which will host live acts and DJ sets, as well as other entertainment.

Supporters can expect involvement with the new matchday experience, with the revamped YO1 Radio pre-match playlist chosen by the fans through social media.

YO1 will also host competitions for York City supporters and provide the opportunity for city centre advertising at their Live Lounge on Goodramgate.

Wayne Chadwick, managing director at YO1 Radio, said: “This is an important day for YO1 Radio as we continue our commitment to entrench ourselves firmly within the York community and keep our promise to be a locally-focused radio station for York.

“What could be better than to support York’s football team.

"We look forward to a bright future with the club as their official radio partner.”

City's commercial manager Liam McGuinness added: “This is a chance for us as a club to add to the atmosphere at our brand-new stadium and fine tune the matchday experience for our supporters.

"It is much more than a game of football - we want people to visit the LNER Community Stadium and make it a day to remember both on and off the pitch.

"YO1 Radio will help us achieve that goal.”

The partnership will be launched officially from the Southport fixture on Saturday, October 9. The club says it will take on fan feedback to build on the matchday experience.
