THE York City Knights Squad Builder Fund has launched a new website to allow supporters to more easily donate to the initiative.

The Squad Builder Find was created in 2012 and has given a platform for Knights fans to directly donate money for new signings and the retention of the key players.

As the Knights prepare for the off-season and a busy period of assembling their squad for 2022, the Fund has created a more convenient way for supporters to get involved.

Previously, fans have been unable to donate money online, with transactions limited to cash, cheques or standing orders.

But that has changed with the formation of the new website, which can be found at: yorksquadbuilder.com

Knights Chairman Jon Flatman said: “It’s incredibly important for us to put quality on the pitch and, with the support of Squad Builder, we have been able to do so.

“Next year, more than most, it’s importance will be huge.

“Squad Builder is an integral part of the finances of the club and its importance can’t be underestimated.

“As always, we’re very thankful for everyone involved with Squad Builder and look forward to announcing their support of the club in the way of new signings and contracts for players in the coming weeks.”

Andy Gomersall, one of Squad Builder’s founders and one of four trustees on its board, spoke of his delight at the news.

He said: “We are delighted to have the ability to take online donations for Squad Builder via our new website, allowing us to move forward in helping the club build a squad for 2022.

“This step makes donations much easier and allows donations of any size or monthly contributions.”

Since 2017, the Squad Builder has contributed to the retention or recruitment of 25 players, including Matty Marsh and Will Jubb.
